Her name was Rose

Ambassador of nature’s grace
housed in crystal embassy
standing tall and drinking deep
from the echoes of her land

Crimson strands fall at her feet
during days of stately death
until with her lowered head
she at last resigns her post

He lays her withered body down
at the feet of countrymen
and with sharpened shears in hand
fatefully appoints her heir

On hold

A fog of fear surrounded her,
one soul in a sea of strangers
loosely bound by misery.

While families huddled, waiting
in minute theaters of tragedy, she
dreaded the sudden end of hers.

This unexpected day was yet familiar.
He was sworn to protect her,
to save them all from monsters.

But mired in forced patience she
could not help but dwell on one
damning question.

Why can’t someone else save them?
And guilt ensnared her, baited
by the terror of impending solitude.

idea, almost

i am lost inside myself
adrift, seeking
will it rescue me
unknown fate lingers, taunting

others surround me
common, connected
it reaches out victorious
embrace the lightning, friend

i stray into darkness
obscure, abstract
i feel it searching
shadows engulf me, unyielding

my beauty is unrewarded
unaware, unclaimed
it pursues another
luminescence fading, fading

was i ever really here
